Assam Rifles man killed in attack along Indo-Myanmar border

Itanagar: An Assam Rifles man was killed after a patrol team came under attack along the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district early Tuesday.
The incident took place at around 6:30 am near Nampong Nallah under Nampong Circle, where fencing work is underway along the border. Officials said the patrol team was targeted when it was conducting routine patrolling.
The attack is suspected to have been carried out by cadres of the NSCN-K-YA (Yung Aung faction), according to preliminary information.
The deceased soldier has been identified as Havildar Jankhokai Kuki, 42.Following the attack, Indian forces launched search operations in the area to track down those responsible, while agencies have been put on heightened alert along the border.
The incident highlights rising unrest across India and along its borders with neighbours, with increasing attacks on Indian forces in border regions amid growing security challenges, despite New Delhi’s claims of strengthened border surveillance and fencing measures.
