RSS an unregistered money laundering unit: Karnataka Home Minister
Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge has described Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as an unregistered money laundering unit engaging in illegal activities in name of religion.
Kharge said, “RSS is nothing but an unregistered money laundering unit that, in the name of religion, is doing all illegal activities,” alleging it operates a massive financial network under guise of donations and guru dakshina.
He questioned why RSS is exempt from income tax scrutiny and regulatory oversight that applies to ordinary citizens, claiming over 2,500 affiliated bodies collect funds from countries like US and UK without constitutional or legal accountability.
Kharge said transparency regarding origin and use of funds is mandatory in democracy and challenged the organisation to register under Constitution, asserting distinction between Hinduism and Hindutva and that RSS should not be treated as sole protector of Hinduism.
He had earlier written to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat seeking clarification on how organisation continues to function without formal registration.
