Man found dead in police custody in Assam
Dispur: A civilian was killed by Indian police in custody in Kamrup district of Assam state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, tension gripped in Jambari locality in Boko town of the district after a 30-year-old man Mahananda Kalita was found dead in police custody in broad daylight.
The deceased was working at the Chhaygaon Industrial Growth Centre, reports said.
The family members talking to media men said that Mahananda died as a result of a physical assault by police officers while in detention.
Meanwhile, a 14-year-old girl was found raped and murdered in Bokakhat town of Golaghat district of the same state.
