Gujjar Bakerwal members lead protest against dilution of ST status in IIOJK
Jammu: The Gujjar Bakarwal Students Alliance (GBSA) organized a protest at the Jammu University in Jammu, vehemently opposing the dilution of Scheduled Tribes (ST) status for Gujjar Bakerwals by the Modi-led Indian government in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters while addressing the media denounced an anti-tribal bill and called for the withdrawal of the Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Tribes (JKST) Amendment Bill from the ongoing budget session in the Indian parliament.
Amidst the chants and banners expressing their rejection of the proposed amendment, GBSA representatives made it clear that the tribal communities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir are united against an unconstitutional move by the Modi government.
The hashtag #WithdrawJKSTAmendmentBill has gained traction on social media platforms as part of their online campaign.
The alliance further hinted at potential political repercussions, stating that tribals across Jammu and Kashmir would unite in protest and respond against the BJP in the upcoming elections.
