Security measures tightened in IIOJK ahead of Modi’s Visit
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, heightened security measures have firmly been put in place ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s imminent visit to Srinagar tomorrow.
For the last few days, multi-layered checkpoints have been established at various places across the Kashmir Valley, with surprise inspections of vehicles and frisking of people being conducted regularly. Besides, additional forces’ personnel have been deployed in Srinagar and other districts of Kashmir. Indian agencies’ officials in plain clothes have also been deployed for surveillance purposes. The forces’ personnel have been also placed on the roof-tops of several buildings to keep track on movement of people on the roads.
With heightened vigilance, the occupation authorities have deployed sophisticated techniques including an aerial surveillance grid, drones, and sharpshooters on high-rise buildings especially in areas close to Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium where Modi is scheduled to address a rally. The venue of the rally has been taken over by the Special Protection Group (SPG).
“A comprehensive security grid has been established around Bakshi Stadium in preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming public rally on Thursday. This includes the implementation of an anti-drone system to safeguard the venue. Additionally, sharpshooters have been strategically deployed at key vantage points to ensure maximum security,” a senior police official was quoted by the media as having said on the condition of anonymity.
Expanding further on the arrangements, the police officer added, “In conjunction with deploying anti-drone systems and sharpshooters, we’ve bolstered security at crucial junctures. Utilizing metal detectors and sniffer dogs, we’ve heightened awareness at key locations.”
