Modi’s development mantra exposed: Devotees face hardships to reach famous shrine in IIOJK’s Bandipora

Bandipora: Hollowness of Modi government’s development mantra in IIOJK post August 2019 again got revealed as devotees in Bandipora continue to face extreme difficult conditions to pay visit to a famous Sufi shrine in the district in the absence of a road.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the shrine of Baba Dawood Khaki (RA), locally known as Chaar Yaar has been craving for a road in Brar village of Bandipora district.

As per locals of Brar village, where the revered shrine is located on a hillock with a breathtaking view of the famous Wular Lake, in absence of a proper road devotees have to face extreme difficult conditions to climb the uphill.

The villagers said that years ago two roads were cut, however, none was completed till today. Now, they added, the authorities have totally abandoned them.

The caretakers at the shrine said that despite efforts no one in the administration paid any heed to their pleas and the devotees have to take a strenuous walk uphill to reach the revered shrine. They said the shrine was revered and holds deep importance for people living in Bandipora and to all those attracted to the Sufi faith.

Notably, Modi government’s intentions were never to bring development and peace in IIOJK through its illegal actions of 5 August 2019. Rather, the abrogation of Article 370 was meant to marginalize the majority Muslim population by allowing non-locals to settle in the occupied territory.
