International think tank questions India’s peace claims in IIOJK

Srinagar: A think tank, International Crisis Group, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, has said that there is a substantial gap between the reality and the Indian government’s claims on peace in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a day after the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Srinagar, the think tank issued a report on the Kashmir valley, stating, “There is a substantial gap between the reality and the government’s claims on J&K’s peace.”

The report warned that unless the basics of political participation and civic freedom were in place, New Delhi’s narrative of peace and security will be increasingly challenged by regional unrest. …They are pushing the next generation of Kashmiris to the wall,” the report said, quoting senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

The report titled ‘Flare-Ups and Frustration as Kashmir Waits for a Vote’ says, “Indian authorities speak of a new era in J&K, which for decades has been a hotbed of separatism.”
