Mehbooba urges unity to thwart Modi regime’s attempts to undermine Kashmiris’ identity

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has emphasized the paramount importance of unity to thwart Narendra Modi-led Indian regime’s attempts to undermine to undermine the identity and aspirations of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing the media in Srinagar, Mufti underscored the need for a collective voice for the rights of the people of the occupied territory.

She reflected on the fissures within the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), expressing her earlier attempts to foster cohesion among political parties, both pre and post-2019.

“I don’t want any Dangal,” remarked Mufti, referring to the tumultuous political landscape. She highlighted that the struggle wasn’t about allocating seats but rather about demonstrating the collective resolve against forces aiming to erode the territory’s identity, resources, and opportunities, especially for the youth.

“To win or lose the elections is not a big thing,” she reiterated, “but a combined voice of all people of Jammu and Kashmir to show the opponents that we can fight for our rights democratically.”

“If anybody drowns in a river, one should not witness silently but rather raise voice to save him,” she asserted, highlighting the dire circumstances faced by the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“My fight is not to seek a chair,” she declared, drawing attention to the plight of families with loved ones detained in jails outside Jammu and Kashmir. She lamented the difficulties they encountered in securing legal representation and the cessation of ration supplies following court orders for their release.

In her concluding remarks, Mufti implored the people of Jammu and Kashmir to unite against the injustices inflicted upon them. She sought their support in amplifying the voices of the oppressed and marginalized, echoing her commitment to upholding their rights and dignity amidst challenging times.
