10 people killed as vehicle plunges into deep gorge on Srinagar-Jammu Highway
Srinagar: Ten people have died after a passenger vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the ill-fated vehicle met an accident around 1:30 in the night and the vehicle fell into a 300-feet deep gorge at a place called Battery Cheshma in Ramban district.
The victims are migrant workers who were on their way to Srinagar.
Amid heavy rains, rescue operations were launched by state disaster management workers and police to retrieve the bodies.
Meanwhile, in Mazmoo area of Islamabad district in a road mishap driver of the vehicle lost his life.
While in Soura area of Srinagar a body of a person namely Tariq Ahmed Bhat aged 34 was recovered.
