Legal action demanded against Delhi publisher over remarks on Imam Khomeini

Kargil: The Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) in Kargil, Ladakh region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has vehemently denounced the highly objectionable, blasphemous, vilifying, and derogatory content published in Indian high school curriculum about the Iranian revered leader and founder of the Islamic Revolution, Late Ayatollah Khomeini.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this content, found in a 6th-class textbook published by Delhi-based Q Connect Books/Acuber, has gone viral on social media, causing outrage among the community in the Ladakh region, and in India.

In a press release and during a press conference, IKMT expressed condemnation towards the publishers, authorities, and individuals involved in creating the offensive content, which has deeply hurt and offended the religious sentiments of Shia Muslims worldwide, including those in India.

IKMT has a strict action against those responsible for this grave offense. The trust firmly rejects any apologies from the publishers and perpetrators, demanding strict punishment under the law. Additionally, IKMT urges immediate confiscation of all copies of the book containing the offensive material.

It is worth mentioning here that a Delhi publisher, Acuber Books International, has insulted Imam Khomeini by including his name in a list of the “most evil” individuals in one of its sixth-grade general knowledge book.

Pertinently, the publisher had drawn widespread condemnation for its portrayal of Imam Khomeini in negative light. The Indian Muslim community, particularly Shia Muslims in Kashmir had expressed outrage over ‘the disrespectful depiction of Imam Khomeini. People in Budgam town and Zadibal quarter of Srinagar city took to the streets demanding action against the publisher. Idara-e-Falah-e-Aam, an NGO, said that Imam Khoemini’s negative portrayal was as a dangerous trend of using the sacred sector like education as a weapon for the impure agenda of strengthening religious hatred.
