World media strongly reacts to Narendra Modi’s hate speeches
New Delhi: The media world-over has strongly criticized Narendra Modi’s hate speeches against Muslims during his ongoing election rallies across India.
The Kashmir Media Service has reported that spreading hate against Muslims is an integral part of the BJP’s manifesto, which is heavily used by Modi in his election campaign. In view of the ongoing elections in India, the Modi government is busy increasing its vote bank by making venomous speeches against Muslims.
The criminal silence of Indian media on Narendra Modi’s hate speeches against minorities shows that the media is also working on his radical agenda.
Modi promoted the Hindutva agenda by making direct anti-Muslim statements in the election campaign, which is a clear violation of Indian election rules, the report stated.
Despite the continuous election irregularities of the BJP-led Modi government, the silence of the Election Commission of India is a matter of concern, said a report released by Al Jazeera.
In his speech given in the name of an extreme campaign, Modi directly targeted the Muslims and called them a coward, including the Muslim refugees from Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Hindu extremists were incited by Modi’s propaganda that the number of Muslims in India is constantly increasing, which is a serious threat to the Hindu population.
According to The Washington Post, the official figures indicate that the birth rate of Muslims in India has been declining the fastest among all communities, nearly halving in the last three decades.
The Modi government wants to divert attention from the real problems facing India by presenting false figures regarding the Muslim population.
The Hindu nationalist policies of the BJP since Modi took office caused religious animosity and undermined India’s purported secular claim to the world, according to The Washington Post.
Modi’s election campaign featured open calls for the burning of Muslim places of worship, demolition of their homes and genocide.
According to The Wire, the BJP’s ten-year rule has fueled Islamophobia and deadly communal clashes in India.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights organization in America, also strongly condemned Modi’s anti-Muslim speeches.
Executive Director, the Council said that Modi’s statements are highly irresponsible but as he is heading an extreme Hindu organization these statements are not surprising at all.
He further said that Modi’s extremism is a big threat not only to Muslims but also to the region, which requires decisive action at the international level.
