Modi regime denies Eid prayers at Srinagar’s Eidgah
Srinagar: In brazen violation of the Kashmiri Muslims’ religious freedom, the BJP-led Hindutva government of India has once again prevented people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from offering Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the historic Eidgah in Srinagar, tomorrow.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the IIOJK Waqf Board, headed by a BJP leader, is continuously denying permission to the Kashmiri Muslims to hold Eid prayers at Eidgah in Srinagar, citing renovations as a pretext.
Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, the management body of the grand mosque in Srinagar, in a statement in Srinagar expressed strong disappointment and resentment towards the Waqf Boad for not making arrangements for Eid Prayers at the Eidgah.
The grand mosque management said that despite repeated requests and reminders, the Waqf Board has not completed the repair works at the Eidgah, citing upgrades as a pretext for over a year.
The Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid said that it had written to the Waqf Board to make arrangements for Eid prayers, but unfortunately, the letter was ignored.
In light of this, the Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid has decided to hold Eid prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid at 9:00 AM, where Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior APHC leader and Mirwaiz Kashmir, will deliver the Eid sermon from 8:00 AM.
