Showing solidarity with Palestinians marks Aashura observance in Kargil
Kargil: On the 10th of Muharram, known as Aashura, the streets of Kargil in the Ladakh region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a poignant display of solidarity with the people of Gaza.
According to Kashmir Media Service, children carrying dummy coffins, representing those martyred in Gaza, joined mourners who held a 20-meter-long Palestinian flag and chanted pro-Palestinian slogans.
The processions, originating from suburban villages, converged at the main bazaar and culminated at Hussaini Park in Kargil city. The demonstrators chanted slogans such as “Down with America,” “Down with Israel,” “We stand with Gaza,” and “We stand with Palestine,” reflecting their support for the Palestinian cause.
Clerics addressing the mourners emphasized the importance of confronting contemporary tyrants and arrogant powers. They asserted that observing the martyrdom and condemning Yazid holds no significance without standing against modern-day oppression. The chanting of slogans in solidarity with Gaza and Palestine was justified as part of commemorating the 72 martyrs of Karbala, highlighting the timeless struggle against tyranny and injustice, they added.
