5 students dead in truck-vehicle collision in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Five college students were killed in a road accident near Tiruttani in Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday evening while two students survived the accident with injuries, for which they are receiving treatment at the hospital.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the local police reported that total of seven students were travelling on the Chennai-Thiruthani highway when a truck collided head-on with their vehicle.

After the news of the road accident came out, rescue teams and Kanagammachathiram Police quickly arrived at the scene. Extracting the bodies proved to be challenging, as the vehicle was completely in the crash. The two injured individuals were promptly taken to Thiruvallur Government Hospital for treatment. The accident caused a two-hour traffic delay on the highway.

The Kanagammachathiram Police have detained the truck driver.

The five students involved in the accident have been identified as being from Ongole, studying at a private college in Chennai.
