Oxford Union to hold debate on political future of Kashmir
Oxford: The Oxford Union is set to hold a debate on the Kashmir dispute, with special focus on its possible political future.
According to Kashmir Media Service, interestingly, the Oxford Union has invited Vivek Agnihotri, a controversial character known for his polarizing views on Kashmir, to attend the debate on the political future of the territory. The invitation may be an attempt to embarrass the Indian filmmaker for his biased film on Kashmir.
Agnihotri’s film, “The Kashmir Files,” has been criticized for its biased portrayal of the Kashmir conflict and its impact on the region’s Muslim population.
The Oxford Union’s debate on Kashmir aims to bring together diverse perspectives and voices to discuss the territory’s tumultuous history, political status, and future prospects.
However, the filmmaker emphasized the gravity and sensitivity of the topic, pretending that a debate may not “do justice to the complexities and emotions involved”.
It is worth mentioning here that the Oxford Union Society, commonly referred to as the Oxford Union, is a debating society in the city of Oxford, England, whose membership is drawn primarily from the University of Oxford.
