Congress slams Amit Shah’s handling of IIOJK, cites deteriorating situation & economic downturn

New Delhi : The Congress has sharply criticized Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s handling of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir during his visit to the territory, raising questions about the deteriorating situation in the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Amit Shah’s two-day visit to IIOJK commenced yesterday.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh labeled Amit Shah as the “self-styled Chanakya,” and said that he has failed to address key issues in IIOJK since the dissolution of the PDP-BJP government in 2018. In a post on X, Ramesh highlighted that since the fall of the PDP-BJP government, the Indian Home Ministry has overseen the administration of the territory.

“The self-styled Chanakya is in Jammu and Kashmir today. Since the fall of the PDP-BJP Government in 2018, Jammu and Kashmir has been administered primarily by the Home Ministry,” Ramesh stated, criticizing Shah’s governance.

Jairam Ramesh posed four critical questions to Amit Shah: Firstly, he inquired about the timeline for the restoration of full statehood to IIOJK. Secondly, he questioned why the security situation in the region has worsened under Shah’s supervision. Thirdly, Ramesh asked why the Indian government appears to be encroaching on the political executive’s powers in Jammu and Kashmir. Lastly, he demanded an explanation for the decline in the region’s economic situation since 2019.

Ramesh’s remarks reflect ongoing concerns about the Indian government’s policies and their impact on occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s security situation, political stability, and economic well-being.
