‘JKLF believes in peaceful, amicable solution of Kashmir dispute’
Islamabad: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has always believed in a peaceful and amicable solution of Kashmir dispute for which the organization, in general, and its leadership, in particular, has rendered unprecedented sacrifices.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the JKLF Chief Spokesman, Muhammad Rafiq Dar in a statement issued in Islamabad reiterated party stance that JKLF has always expressed its readiness to engage in any seriously held Kashmir issue resolution process. It is a proven fact that the use of force and the time gaining strategy yielded nothing but has only added to the miseries of people, he added
Giving his reaction to the proposed state elections in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), he termed the management of elections as a futile exercise. He said JKLF views these elections as a part of a long-pending strategy of India to sidestep the fundamental issue of addressing the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Such elections, like in the past, raises skepticism not hopes, and the actors, old or new, involved in staging the drama are doomed to fail, he informed.
The spokesman said JKLF believes that the elections held under the heavy military presence in occupied Kashmir without addressing the aspirations of the people, will face similar skepticism.
Reiterating party’s dedication to peacefully resolving the Kashmir dispute, he cited the examples of JKLF ceasefire initiative, launch of Signature Campaign, Safr-e-Azadi and active participation in dialogue process led by illegally detained party Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and said, “Our efforts underlines party’s preferences for reaching to a democratic solution of the conflict.”
Rafiq Dar made it clear that the killings, arrests and the harassment of people could not, in any way, deter the people’s resolve for Jammu and Kashmir. He also demanded the unconditional release of all illegally detained Kashmiri political leaders, including Yasin Malik, and early start of the process for the resolution of the dispute.
The spokesman hailed Kashmiri diaspora organizations, especially Kashmir Global Council (KGC), for its initiative of forming “Kashmir Senate” to represent the movement in its true perspective with members from different religious and ethnic communities of the entire State.
He urged India, Pakistan and indigenous political organizations in occupied Jammu Kashmir to move forward towards a new era of trust and friendship while recognizing the human sufferings met with during the past over three decades.
