Muslim animal-lover arrested for feeding meat to stray dogs in UP

Lucknow: The Indian police have arrested a Muslim woman after being accused of throwing pieces of meat to stray gods in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh state of India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Muslim woman was arrested by Indian police after she was throwing pieces of meat to dogs near the Lambeshwar Shiva Temple in the Bazar Khala area of the capital city, Lucknow.

The violent Hindus claimed that the act was an attempt to disturb the peace during the Navratri festival. However, the police have stated that the woman was feeding stray dogs and not engaging in any deliberate provocation.

The Hindutva communal crowd quickly gathered outside the temple and demanded strict action against the woman.

The police, led by Inspector Santosh Arya, said the Muslim woman, identified as Aliza, was arrested after the crowd’s demands for action grew. However, she insisted that her intentions were misunderstood. “She said that she was feeding stray dogs,” Arya explained, adding that Aliza is known locally for her care of street animals. “She is a dog-lover and regularly feeds stray dogs in the area,” the police added.

According to the police, Aliza, who lives alone, was carrying pieces of meat in a bag to feed the dogs sitting near the temple. This has been her routine for some time, though violent Hindus did not appreciate the timing or location of her actions. “She did not intend to cause any harm or insult anyone,” Indian police officer Arya clarified.
