Restoration of Kashmiris’ rights is NC-led IIOJK admin’s top challenge: Ruhullah

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior National Conference leader and Member of Indian Parliament Agha Ruhullah Mehdi has emphasized the urgent need for the Omar Abdullah-led administration to advocate for the restoration of rights stripped from the Kashmiri people since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a media interview, Ruhullah stressed that alongside this crucial fight, the new IIOJK administration led by National Conference must focus on effective governance. He underscored the importance of actively opposing the policies of the BJP and the decisions made on August 5, 2019 and thereafter.

The NC leader also called on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal to apologize to the people of the territory for his previous support of the Modi government’s illegal actions in August 2019. His comments came in response to Kejriwal’s suggestion that Omar Abdullah consult him if he faces challenges in governing what Kejriwal referred to as a “half-state.” It is important to note that Kejriwal has previously backed the Modi regime’s decision to revoke occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

“Before advising us on governance, he should reflect on his past actions and offer an apology to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Only then will we be able to respect his role in the alliance,” Ruhullah stated. He expressed hope that Kejriwal has recognized the gravity of his mistake regarding the decisions made in August 2019. Ruhullah also conveyed his expectation that Kejriwal would remain committed to empowering the people of IIOJK.
