Hooch tragedy claims lives of 25 people in Bihar; 12 held
Patna: At least 25 persons have died after consuming spurious liquor in Siwan and Saran districts of Bihar Indian state.
This is one of the biggest hooch tragedies in Bihar since the state went dry in 2016.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the top police officer of Bihar, Alok Raj, said Siwan accounted for 20 fatalities, five deaths have been reported from Saran even as 12 persons have been arrested for selling spurious liquor.
“Two Special Investigating Teams have been set up in the aftermath of the incident. The one set up at the local level will look into the criminality involved in the latest episode.
Another team has been formed by the Department of Prohibition, which will carry out a comprehensive study of all such incidents that had taken place in the recent past,” the police officer added.
