RRM report exposes India’s state sponsored anti-Canada media campaign
Ottawa: The Canada-based Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM), which monitors foreign state-sponsored disinformation, has released a report highlighting India’s orchestrated media campaign against Canada and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the report comes amid heightened diplomatic tensions following the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. It reveals that Modi-aligned media outlets have intensified hostile narratives, labeling Nijjar a “Khalistani terrorist” and suggesting that Canada supports “separatist terrorism”.
India’s portrayal of Trudeau as a political opportunist serves to divert attention from allegations of state-sponsored violence. The report emphasizes that while India condemns dissent abroad, it ignores its own violations, calling for urgent reflection on its approach to nationalism.
Additionally, Modi-aligned media has leveraged extensive social media platforms to amplify anti-Canada rhetoric, suggesting Canada is isolated from G7 allies. They depict Trudeau as catering to the Sikh diaspora for electoral gain and frame the conflict as a domestic political maneuver, undermining Canada’s serious allegations.
The report also notes a recurring theme in Indian media narratives that involve scapegoating Pakistan to distract from internal issues, illustrating a pattern of deflection in India’s geopolitical strategies. KMS-13K
