Farooq Rehmani slams India’s extrajudicial actions in IIOJK, urges UN intervention
Islamabad: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, senior leader of the APHC-AJK chapter and Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, has strongly condemned India’s extrajudicial measures in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying New Delhi is treating Kashmiris as colonial subjects.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Islamabad, Farooq Rehmani highlighted several alarming developments, including the recent extrajudicial killing of five Kashmiri youths in Kulgam, the attachment of private properties, and the police raid at the residence of the martyred veteran pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Gilani. He also condemned the ongoing fabrication of criminal charges against innocent young men and the escalating efforts to impose Hindutva policies in the Muslim-majority region of IIOJK.
The APHC-AJK senior leader noted that the media in IIOJK is already facing severe restrictions, with these actions reflecting a broader attempt to engineer circumstances in favor of India’s settler-colonial agenda, reminiscent of colonial tactics employed by 18th-century imperial powers.
Rehmani called on the United Nations Secretary-General and the international community to urgently address India’s actions in the occupied territory, urging them to hold New Delhi accountable for violating the UN Charter and relevant resolutions on the Kashmir dispute. He emphasized that these measures represent a direct assault on Kashmiris’ fundamental rights and their inalienable right to self-determination.
