Tehreek-e-Hurriyat urges global rights bodies’ intervention for release of IIOJK detainees

Srinagar: The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir has expressed serious concern over the ongoing illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists, demanding their immediate release from Indian jails.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat in a statement issued in Srinagar said, over 5,000 Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders and activists, are currently imprisoned in the occupied territory and Indian jails, where they are deprived of essential medical and basic facilities.

The statement highlighted that many detainees are suffering from various ailments, with their health deteriorating dangerously. It maintianed that for the past 77 years, India has been perpetrating severe atrocities to suppress the Kashmiris’ spirit of freedom. However, it reaffirmed that Kashmiris will never abandon their demand for the right to self-determination.

Furthermore, the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat called on international human rights organizations to take notice of the plight of the Kashmiri detainees and to play a role in securing their release.
