Indian govt has no justification to withhold statehood from IIOJK: Karra

Srinagar: Tariq Hameed Karra, President of the Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has made a strong demand for the full restoration of statehood, rejecting any partial or conditional measures.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement in Srinagar, Karra asserted, “We are advocating for complete statehood, not for arrangements that keep crucial departments under the direct control of the Government of India. Such a scenario is unacceptable to both the Congress party and the people of Jammu and Kashmir”.

He expressed frustration over the prolonged delay in restoring statehood, emphasizing that New Delhi has failed to fulfill its promises to the people of IIOJK, despite assurances from high-ranking officials, including the Indian Prime Minister and the Home Minister in Parliament.

Karra underscored the widespread urgency felt among the populace, stating, “The demand for statehood transcends political divides. It is a sentiment uniting everyone in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian government has no moral, legal, or constitutional justification for withholding it any longer.”
