Rich tributes paid to renowned freedom fighter Abdul Khaliq Ganai

Islamabad: Former convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK chapter Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has paid glowing tributes to Abdul Khaliq Ganai, also known as Jamal Afghani, a prominent freedom fighter of the 1990s uprising in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ganai was martyred in custody of Indian troops in December 1993.

Remembering Ganai’s unwavering dedication, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani highlighted his significant role in the freedom movement during the 1970s and 1990s, terming him a leading figure in the resistance against India’s forcible and illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. He lauded Ganai’s commitment to the cause, calling him a devoted leader and freedom fighter whose sacrifices symbolized the resilience of the Kashmiri people.

Rehmani emphasized that the sacrifices of Ganai and other freedom fighters would not go in vain.

He expressed hope for the eventual success of the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination. The Hurriyat leader called upon the international community to pressure India for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the principles of self-determination and the relevant United Nations resolutions.
