Indian police arrest three in Baramulla and Kupwara districts

Srinagar: Indian police have arrested three individuals in separate operations in the Baramulla and Kupwara districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, police apprehended Nazim Din in the Khanpora area of Baramulla. Subsequently, Waqar Ahmad Khawaja was arrested at a checkpoint near the Handwara Bye-Pass, while Manzoor Ahmad Bhat was taken into custody during a police search at his residence in Marathgam, Handwara.

Nazim Din is a resident of Zamboor Pattan village in Uri, Baramulla; Waqar is from Tangdhar, Kupwara; and Manzoor is a resident of Marathgam, Handwara.

To justify these arrests, the police alleged that the trio was involved in a drug trafficking network. However, such actions are part of a broader strategy by Indian authorities to intimidate the Kashmiris. The frequent detentions and arrests of people in IIOJK on various pretexts are perceived as efforts to suppress dissent and undermine the legitimate Kashmiris’ demand for self-determination.

On the other hand, two landlords in IIOJK’s Samba district have been booked for allegedly failing to provide details of their tenants for verification. “Two FIRs have been registered against landlords in Samba district for violating the district magistrate’s order by not providing information about their tenants and other outsiders,” an Indian official said. The landlords are residents of Mandera.
