UT Foundation Day celebration further exposes Modi’s nefarious agenda in IIOJK: Hurriyat leaders
Srinagar: Illegally detained All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders, Molvi Bashir Irfani and Bilal Siddiqi, have termed the New Delhi appointed Lieutenant Governor’s celebration of the so-called Union Territory Foundation Day as extremely ridiculous and said that the Modi government’s revocation of the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir has severely eroded the identity of the Kashmir people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in messages sent from jail in Srinagar, Molvi Bashir Irfani and Bilal Siddiqi stated that LG Manoj Sinha’s celebration on October 31 only exposes the BJP’s ulterior motives regarding the occupied territory. They characterized this move as akin to pouring salt on the wounds of Kashmiris, who have made immense sacrifices in their struggle against illegal Indian occupation and remain resolutely opposed to it.
The APHC leaders emphasized that the Modi government has created an environment conducive to advancing its Hindutva agenda in IIOJK by abrogating the territory’s special status in August 2019. They warned that the BJP is pursuing a malicious plan to convert the Muslim majority in Kashmir into a minority, systematically stripping them of their fundamental rights while allowing Indian froces’ personnel to carry out atrocities against unarmed civilians with impunity.
Irfani and Siddiqi underscored that the international community recognizes Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory, and India’s illegal actions in this globally acknowledged conflict zone present a significant challenge to the world. They made it clear that without a resolution to the Kashmir dispute, sustainable peace and development in the region will remain elusive. They called on the international community to take note of India’s unlawful activities and obstinacy, urging it to exert pressure for a just resolution to the longstanding dispute.
Lastly, they appealed to the Kashmiri people to strengthen their unity and cohesion in order to effectively confront the insidious Indian plans against Kashmir and its inhabitants.
