Court orders demolition of 50 year old mosque in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: A court in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has ordered the demolition of a 50-year-old mosque, triggering tensions in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) court issued the order for the demolition of the mosque, located in Rajpur Khampur village, in the Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.
The court also imposed a fine of 4.25 lakh rupees on the mosque’s caretaker, accusing him of constructing the mosque on land originally designated for a village pond.
The court’s ruling has led to widespread anger and frustration among the local Muslim community, with villagers condemning the decision as unjust.
The local Muslims have vowed to resist any attempt to demolish the mosque, asserting that they will not allow it under any circumstances.
