Islamabad: President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhary, has emphasized the urgent need to raise a collective voice for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people across regional and international platforms.

According to Kashmir Media Service, he made these remarks during a meeting with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Kashmir Committee, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, at Kashmir House, Islamabad. Former federal minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Irfan Kayani were also in present in this meeting.

President AJK Barrister Sultan highlighted the importance of engaging the global community for an swift and peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute. He stressed that implementing the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, which uphold the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, is essential for a sustainable solution to the long-standing conflict.

He asserted that “It is imperative to advocate for Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination at all possible levels.”

He added that the Parliament of Pakistan is a key platform that can amplify the Kashmir cause, both nationally and internationally.

Commenting on the recent assembly elections held in IIOJK, President AJK criticized the elections as a “failed attempt” by India to mislead the world community and said the elections held under heavy military presence were aimed at suppressing the Kashmiris’ legitimate political aspirations.

Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry also denounced India’s ongoing policy of oppression and vowed that the Kashmiri people would continue their struggle until they achieve freedom from India’s illegal occupation.

On the occasion, Chairman Parliamentary Kashmir Committee Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon reassured Pakistan’s unwavering political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Kashmir cause. He affirmed that Pakistan’s Senate and National Assembly would continue to voice support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the prevailing political situation in the occupied territory and other issues of mutual concern related to the Kashmir cause.
