Modi’s so-called development fails to address road safety crises in IIOJK
Srinagar: Amidst Narendra Modi’s constant rhetoric of development in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir; the occupied territory has witnessed over 5,000 deaths due to road accidents in the past six years.
According to Kashmir Media Service, with an average of over 900 deaths in a year, IIOJK remains amongst top regions of mortality due to road accidents yet the authorities’ response remains woefully inadequate.
The experts rue the lack of proper roads, inadequate signage, and poorly maintained highways continue to be major contributors to the rising death toll.
Despite hollow promises of modernizing IIOJK and improving living conditions, the roads remain sub-standard and hazardous, turning everyday travel into a life-threatening risk.
Even with nearly a thousand lives lost every year, the authorities have failed to act on the numerous recommendations for better infrastructure and emergency services.
The absence of trauma centers along highways further exacerbates the situation, leading to avoidable deaths from delayed medical care.
