Speakers at webinar demand end to Indian atrocities on Women in IIOJK

Islamabad: Speakers in a webinar expressed deep concern over the ongoing atrocities, sexual violence, and human rights violations against women in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the webinar, organized by Friends of Kashmir International on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, was attended by various global and Kashmiri leaders who called on the international community to take immediate action to address these issues.

Mushaal Hussain Malik, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Foundation, emphasized that sexual and mental abuse of women in IIOJK is an unforgivable crime. She noted that Kashmiri women, through their courage and sacrifices, are resisting oppression, but they need international support to continue their struggle.

Ghazala Habib, Chairperson of Friends of Kashmir International, pointed out that women in Kashmir are systematically subjected to violence and oppression, and she called for the immediate intervention of the international community to stop these atrocities.

Legal and international affairs expert Dr. Asma Khwaja stated that the actions of Indian forces are a blatant violation of international human rights laws, and there is an urgent need for strong measures against these violations.

Ali Raza Syed, Chairman of the Kashmir Council EU, urged the European Union to play a proactive role in stopping the violation of women’s rights in IIOJK.

The webinar was attended by several other participants, including Abdul Hamid Lone, Mohammad Haroon Abbas, Naila Altaf Kiani, Rana Basharat Ali Khan, Professor Taqdees Gilani, Shaheen Kausar Dar, Nazish Khattak, Mirza Asif Jeral, Tayiba Khurshid, Sadia Sattar, Nazneen Gilani, Rimsha Malik, Hina Basheer, Ayesha Kirmani, Asim Zaeb, and Nazia Sheikh.

The webinar concluded with a call for immediate and effective action by the international community to safeguard the rights of Kashmiri women in IIOJK.
