IIOJK MP Engineer Rashid’s health worsens in Tihar jail amid hunger strike
New Delhi: The health condition of incarcerated Kashmiri politician and Indian parliament member Engineer Rashid has deteriorated as his indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail entered its eighth consecutive day, today.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Engineer Rashid, who heads the Awami Ittihad Party in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), has been imprisoned since 2019 under the draconian under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Amid growing concerns over his critical health, he has been shifted to RML Hospital in New Delhi for medical attention.
Expressing grave concern, Awami Ittihad Party chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said, “The health situation of Engineer Rashid is deeply alarming. Despite his critical condition, his voice for justice remains unyielding. We urge the authorities to prioritise his medical care and ensure he receives immediate and comprehensive treatment.”
He further emphasised that the continued incarceration and deteriorating health of Engineer Rashid is a matter of serious concern. “We appeal to the government and relevant authorities to address this issue urgently,” he added.
