Mushaal slams India for sexual violence, education deprivation to perpetuate Kashmiris’ enslavement
Islamabad: Mushaal Hussein Malik, wife of incarcerated Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik and Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organization has condemned the fascist Indian government’s systematic persecution of Kashmiris, including the deliberate attempts to deprive Kashmiri people of education to suppress the territory’s youth and perpetuate their enslavement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mushaal Malik while speaking at the Pakistan Women Empowerment Excellence Award 2025 held at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST) here on Monday shed light on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in IIOJK, where the Kashmiri people continued to endure unimaginable suffering under Indian occupation.
Mushaal Malik stated that the Indian forces were employing brutal tactics to silence dissent and crush the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination. About the unlawful detention of Hurriyat leaders, including her husband, Mohammad Yasin Malik, who has been imprisoned for years on baseless charges, she emphasized that the Indian government’s actions in IIOJK were not only a violation of international law but also a blatant disregard for human dignity and freedom.
“The people of Kashmir are being subjected to relentless oppression,” Mushaal stated. “Their homes are raided in the dead of night, their voices are silenced, and their leaders are incarcerated without trial. This is not just a denial of justice; it is a war on humanity,” she maintained.
Mushaal lamented that the occupation authorities used sexual violence against women as a weapon of war in IIOJK, where women are targeted to instill fear and humiliation within the community, calling it a stain on the conscience of the international community.
“The women of Kashmir are not just fighting for their freedom; they are fighting for their dignity,” she said. “The use of rape as a tool of war is a heinous crime that must not only be condemned in the strongest terms but Indian government should be held accountable for this inhuman act,” she added.
Mushaal further criticized India’s deliberate efforts to deprive Kashmiri children of education, describing it as a calculated strategy to keep the territory enslaved. She noted that schools and universities in IIOJK are frequently shut down, and students are denied access to quality education, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and disempowerment.
She urged global leaders, human rights organizations and civil society to shun duplicity and take immediate action to hold India accountable for its crimes in IIOJK and support their right to self-determination.
