Kashmiri shawl seller attacked; goods, cash looted in Indian Punjab

Chandigarh: A group of miscreants attacked a Kashmiri shawl seller in the Punjab state of India, looting his goods and cash.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident happened in Kapurthala district and the victim has been identified as Fareed Ahmad Bajad from Kralpora, Kupwara, was severely beaten and dragged by the attackers. The assailants also stole shawls worth lakhs and cash from him.

SSP Kapurthala, Goru Tora, confirmed the registration of an FIR in the case and assured that strict action would be taken against the culprits. This incident marks the seventh such attack in the last 45 days, highlighting a concerning rise in violence against Kashmiri traders in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana. The frequent targeting of Kashmiri traders has created fear and insecurity among them, threatening their livelihoods.
