AIMPLB to launch nationwide campaign against the Waqf Amendment Bill
Calls BJP’s approach highly biased

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has called for a nationwide campaign to be launched against the Waqf Amendment Bill, stating that it is not only a Muslim issue but also a violation of the Constitution.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Board’s President, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, addressing a press conference in Delhi, said that several misconceptions have been spread regarding the Waqf Board, such as the belief that any land over which the Waqf Board claims ownership automatically becomes its property, which is completely false. He stated that the Waqf Amendment Bill is based on religious discrimination, as it only targets the Waqf properties of Muslims.
While expressing disappointment about the introduction of the bill in Rajya Sabha, Maulana Rahmani said that the ruling party, its allies, and the Parliamentary Standing Committee have continuously ignored the opinions and views of Indian Muslims. He added that the way they have presented their unilateral proposals in Parliament is deeply regrettable, condemnable, and unacceptable for Indian Muslims, minorities, and all justice-loving people, and the Board rejects it.
He emphasized that the sole purpose of the Waqf Amendment Bill is to completely destroy Waqf properties and deprive Muslims of their mosques, Eidgahs, seminaries, and cemeteries. He mentioned that approximately five crore Muslims had expressed their opposition to the bill through emails, but their views were entirely ignored.
He stated that the reality is that the BJP government’s approach to all matters related to Muslims is highly biased and hostile. Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani urged all opposition parties, as well as BJP’s allies, to ensure that this bill is not passed in Parliament.
