Fake accounts spreading sectarian hate among Muslims in IIOJK: Mufti Nasir

Srinagar: Under the patronage of the ruling BJP, New Delhi has activated its stooges to spread sectarian hate, particularly within the Muslim community in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, using social media as a tool.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the sinister campaign seeks to weaken unity and create internal discord by fabricating narratives, distorting religious teachings and fueling sectarian disputes. Manipulated videos, fake news and provocative posts are main tools of the campaign with BJP-affiliated groups exploiting these platforms to manufacture communal tensions. Indian intelligence agencies are accused of running covert digital operations to sow discord among Kashmiris by instigating sectarian divides.

To counter the move, Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, in a statement issued in Srinagar warned that such actions go against the core principles of Islam, which advocate unity, compassion and brotherhood. He raised serious concerns over the activities of “certain individuals” posing as religious scholars and preachers on social media.

He said that some fake Moulvis and religious figures, using fraudulent accounts, are engaged in spreading hate and fuelling sectarian divisions, which could potentially disrupt the peace and harmony of the region.

The Grand Mufti urged people to remain vigilant and not fall prey to misleading narratives propagated by unverified religious figures. These persons are not true representatives of Islam.

Their sole agenda is to create discord among different sects and disturb the social fabric of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Grand Mufti further urged religious scholars and community leaders to work together in fostering unity and discouraging any attempt to sow divisions among people.

He emphasised that peace and communal harmony are essential for the overall progress and stability of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
