Kashmiri youth arrested for alleged pro-freedom social media activity in Srinagar

Srinagar: The Indian police, under the orders of New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, have arrested another Kashmiri youth in Srinagar district for allegedly using social media to promote pro-freedom narratives.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the individual, identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar, a resident of Doodh Mohalla, Shalimar, was arrested for using his social media account to share content that allegedly glorifies pro-freedom activities— a claim frequently used by occupation authorities to justify repressive actions in IIOJK.

It is important to note that on March 8, six individuals were arrested in Budgam district for allegedly using social media platforms to promote pro-freedom narratives.

Critics argue that such crackdowns are yet another step toward suppressing dissenting voices and curbing the freedom of social media users who express views that challenge the false and fabricated narratives pushed by the Indian state.
