Amarnath Yatra pilgrim dies of suspected heart attack
Srinagar: A 49-year-old Amarnath Yatri from Uttar Pradesh state of India died of a suspected heart attack while on the pilgrimage route in Ganderbal district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir today.
According to Kashmir Media Service, an official said the deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar Soni, a resident of Pantnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
He was initially rushed to District Hospital, Ganderbal, after he reportedly complained of severe chest pain. He was referred to Soura Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) for treatment.
“However, upon arrival at IMS, the pilgrim was declared dead by the attending doctors,” the official said.
