Rallies held across AJK to pay tribute to Burhan Wani
Mirpur: Rallies and seminars were held across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to pay glowing tributes to prominent young Kashmiri resistance leader, Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani, on his martyrdom anniversary.
According to Kashmir Media Service, events were held in Mirpur, Rawalakot, Samahni, and Kotli, where people from all walks of life participated in large numbers. Special prayers were offered for Shaheed Burhan Wani and all martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement.
In Mirpur, a special prayer ceremony was held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The event was jointly organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell, civil society representatives, and the district administration.
In Rawalakot, a rally was taken out under the aegis of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell and the district administration. Participants raised vociferous slogans in support of Kashmir’s freedom and against the ongoing Indian brutalities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). They called on the international community to play its due role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
Meanwhile, in Samahni sub-division, a protest demonstration was organized by the Tehsil Administration. A large number of people, including members of civil society, media, and the legal fraternity, participated. The demonstrators paid rich tributes to Shaheed Burhan Wani and chanted slogans in support of the right to self-determination and against Indian occupation. Speakers, including Assistant Commissioner Hussam Sajid and President of the local Bar Association Advocate Chaudhry Munirullah, said that Shaheed Burhan Wani’s supreme sacrifice is a continuation of the ongoing liberation struggle, which India cannot suppress. They emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir want the implementation of the UN resolutions and that India cannot crush the movement through force or weaken the bond between Kashmiris and Pakistan.
In Gulpur, Kotli, a massive rally was held under the banner of the Jammu and Kashmir Pir Panjal Freedom Movement. Participants paid rich tributes to Shaheed Burhan Wani and other martyrs of the freedom struggle. Prominent figures who participated included Vice Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Pir Panjal Freedom Movement Qazi Imran, Sardar Haji Arif, Khawaja Ayaz, Raja Sarfaraz, Sardar Aftab Arif, Shabbir Chichi, Chaudhry Riaz, Sardar Ilyas, Sardar Basharat Hussain, Zaheer Jarral, Sardar Mubeen, Sardar Fareed, Sardar Faizan Mehmood, Malik Muhammad Riyaz, Chaudhry Liaqat, Imtiaz Ali Arzoo, Chaudhry Abdul Rauf, Imtiaz Butt, Master Muhammad Zameer, and Sardar Munir Hussain.
