India involved in serious war crimes in IIOJK: Speakers

Seminar by Kashmir Center Lahore on International Human Rights Day

Lahore: Speakers at a seminar organized by the Kashmir Center Lahore on the occasion of International Human Rights Day said that India is committing serious war crimes in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and urged international organizations to raise their voice against the grave human rights violations taking place in the occupied territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, senior PPP leader Ghulam Abbas Mir chaired the seminar, while prominent human rights activist and President of the Legal Council Human Rights Society of Pakistan, Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhry, was the chief guest.

The speakers noted that severe human rights violations in IIOJK have continued for more than seven decades. They called upon the United Nations and other global bodies to hold India accountable for its war crimes and criticized the international community for maintaining double standards towards oppressed nations.

They said that the United Nations has failed to implement its resolutions on Kashmir. Since 2019, they added, political, social, and economic freedoms in the occupied territory have been systematically curtailed. Political leaders, Hurriyat representatives, journalists, students, and civilians continue to face fabricated charges, arbitrary arrests, and detentions.

The speakers further said that the Indian occupation authorities are desecrating Islamic practices under the pretext of security restrictions. They condemned ongoing extrajudicial killings of Kashmiris in fake encounters, carried out as part of efforts to alter the Muslim-majority character of IIOJK. They also highlighted the large-scale issuance of domicile certificates to non-Kashmiri Hindus.

The speakers included Kashmir Center Lahore In-Charge Inam-ul-Hassan, Maulana Shafi Josh, Mirza Sadiq Jarral, Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique, A.M. Shakoori, Ms. Amna Naseer, senior journalist Naseer-ul-Haq Hashmi, Allama Mushtaq Qadri, Allama Fida-ur-Rehman Haidari, and others.
