Mirwaiz placed under house arrest; not allowed to offer Friday prayers in Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid

Srinagar: The New Delhi-controlled administration in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir has not allowed senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to offer Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar and placed him under house arrest.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the occupation administration placed Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest for fear of paying tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs of July 13, 1931, in his Friday prayer sermon at the Jamia Masjid.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemned this move of the occupation administration and said the sacrifices of all Kashmiri martyrs who sacrificed their lives from July 1931 to today are etched in the collective memory of Kashmiris and they cannot be forgotten by restrictions.
He said that no living nation can forget the great sacrifices of its martyrs against oppression and injustice and urged the authorities to lift the restrictions and allow Kashmiris to peacefully pay tribute to the martyrs of July 13.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq vowed that on July 13, after Zuhr prayers, there will be a march to the shrine of martyrs Naqshband Sahib in Srinagar and a grand tribute will be paid to the martyrs.
