Mother of detained freedom fighter Shafiq Butt passes away in Srinagar
Srinagar: The mother of prominent Kashmiri freedom fighter Muhammad Shafiq Butt, illegally detained in an Indian jail in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, passed away yesterday in Battamalu, Srinagar.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Muhammad Shafiq Butt is affiliated with the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League and has been enduring the hardships of imprisonment for the past several years. He is currently in Agra central jail in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, while the grandson of the deceased is also in Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas In a statement issued in Srinagar expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Muhammad Shafiq Butt’s mother and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with patience.
He also urged the Indian government to release political prisoner Muhammad Shafiq Butt so that he could attend his mother’s funeral.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter leaders have also expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Muhammad Shafiq Butt’s mother.
