NC calls for immediate restoration of IIOJK’s statehood, slams dual governance

Jammu: National Conference (NC) leader and Additional General Secretary, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra has made a forceful appeal for the immediate restoration of statehood to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, warning that the current dual administrative control has adversely impacted governance and eroded trust in institutions.
Addressing a public meeting at Raipur in Satwari area of Jammu, Sadhotra said that the people of IIOJK were bearing the brunt of an unaccountable and unresponsive dual governance system. “Decisions affecting the everyday lives of citizens are either delayed or lost in bureaucratic wrangles,” he said. “This system is no substitute for a democratically elected government”, he remarked.
Sadhotra said the dual control structure has created chaos, confusion, and a growing sense of alienation among the masses. “Governance has taken a serious hit. The absence of political accountability is weakening institutional credibility and democratic values,” he added.
He reminded New Delhi of its repeated assurances, made both in the Parliament and before the Supreme Court, that statehood to IIOJK would be restored. “This is not about any one party or ideology. The demand for restoration of statehood is a broad-based and deeply rooted aspiration that cuts across party lines,” he said, calling the continuing delay a betrayal of the people’s mandate.
Reiterating his party’s stance, Sadhotra said, “NC will continue to amplify the voice of the people and fight for the restoration of full democratic rights, including statehood, which is essential for peace, dignity, and development in Jammu and Kashmir.”
