MMU reviews food safety, shortages as Valley remains cut off from world

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) Advisory Committee held a crucial meeting at Jama Masjid Srinagar to deliberate on growing concerns over food safety and shortages as the valley continues to remain cut off from outside world due to the prolonged closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the meeting, chaired by Mufti Nazir Ahmad Qasmi, brought together senior scholars and representatives of various religious organizations, including Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith, Anjuman Shari Shian, Anjuman Tableeg-ul-Islam, and Darul Uloom Bilaliya. Poultry association members also presented their grievances before the committee, highlighting the grave impact of transport blockade on supplies.

The committee assured that a practical action plan in line with Islamic Shariah would be formulated and presented before MMU patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mufti Azam, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, before making the details public.

The meeting expressed deep concern that the Valley’s disconnection from the outside world had triggered severe shortages of food, medicines, and poultry products, and warned that the crisis was worsening due to official indifference.
