India blamed for using Gen Z protests to fuel unrest in Nepal

Kathmandu: Strong voices in Nepal have accused India of orchestrating the latest wave of protests in the country, describing New Delhi as a “Net Security Destabiliser” bent on undermining its neighbours’ sovereignty.
According to Kashmir Media Service, India is channeling money and agenda to Nepal’s Gen Z in an attempt to hijack the politics of a sovereign country. “This is not a genuine movement but a dangerous plot by Delhi to destabilise Nepal,” commentators said, adding that New Delhi has always acted as a regional bully while pretending to be a leader.
The allegations came after Nepal’s government last week banned several social media platforms, including Facebook, citing their failure to register with authorities and growing misuse for fake accounts, hate speech and fraud. The decision triggered street protests, but analysts believe India’s covert hands are fanning the unrest to push its strategic objectives.
Protesters clashed with police outside parliament, prompting security forces to impose curfew, use water cannons, batons and rubber bullets, and deploy the army in sensitive areas. Demonstrations were also reported from Biratnagar, Bharatpur and Pokhara.
Nepali commentators, however, stress that what is unfolding is more than just public anger. They point to Delhi’s consistent interference in neighbouring states—Sri Lanka, Maldives and now Nepal. “India has always suppressed smaller nations. By exploiting youth protests, Delhi wants to tighten its grip and turn Nepal into another vassal state,” they said.
Observers underlined that while corruption and unemployment are real issues in Nepal, India is exploiting these weaknesses to destabilize the Himalayan state. “The real question is: how long will Nepal continue to breathe under Delhi’s chokehold?” one analyst remarked.
Critics concluded that the latest turmoil is not an organic outburst but part of India’s expansionist agenda. “This is not protest, this is Indian interference in the name of protest. The Nepali people must recognize the plot to enslave their future,” they warned.
