Jailed Yasin Malik denounces allegations as baseless, hate-driven, and shameful
New Delhi: Yasin Malik, chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), currently held illegally in the notorious Tihar Jail, has vehemently rejected the charges leveled against him, calling them entirely baseless, frivolous, hate-fueled, and deeply shameful. He further asserted that the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits following Governor Jagmohan’s arrival was a premeditated conspiracy.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Yasin Malik, in an affidavit submitted to the Delhi High Court, dismissed the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) charges as so absurd that even a common street thug would find them unbelievable. He highlighted that he has been falsely accused of orchestrating the migration of Pandits and harassing them, claims heavily amplified by investigators and Indian media alike. Malik pointed out that if there were any truth to these allegations, numerous Indian Prime Ministers and Shankar Acharya would not have met with him. Notably, Acharya visited Srinagar several times, and they held joint press conferences. Malik questioned how such interactions could have taken place if the charges were genuine.
He further challenged the narrative, stating, “Is it not worth considering that if I were truly guilty, these figures would not have risked their credibility by meeting me repeatedly instead of exposing me?” Malik also emphasized that no official record implicates him in the Pandit migration.
Rejecting the NIA’s accusations outright, Malik condemned the false narrative propagated against him in the media.
He added that from VP Singh to Manmohan Singh, six consecutive Indian Prime Ministers engaged in dialogue with him. Malik recalled Prime Minister Manmohan Singh telling him, “I consider you the leader of the non-violent movement in Kashmir.”
