Indian forces’ brutal cordon, search operations continue across IIOJK

Draconian crackdowns turn daily life into nightmare for Kashmiris

Srinagar: Indian forces continued cordon and search operations in different areas of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, subjecting residents to harassment and fear.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian troops carried forward the second consecutive day of a cordon and search operation in Keshwan area of Kishtwar. The Indian Army claimed its personnel came under fire while conducting what it called an intelligence-based operation in the district.

The forces of Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, and Special Operations Group also continued massive operations in multiple areas of Poonch district. These include Girjan Gali Tanh, Godriananad, Karru, Upper Banikhet, Nadiyan Dhok, Murrah, and Nadily Sum in Surankote; Burie Mohalla, Jogi Mohalla, Jattan Mohalla Chajjla, and Banola Balakote in Mendhar; Shahpur, Loharika, Sangiote, and Gursai Morha in Gursai; as well as Lower Sawjian and adjoining localities in Mandi and Guntrian in the district. The operations were launched after reports of suspicious movement.

Meanwhile, the troops continued their fourth straight day of cordon and search operations in Seoj Dhar and Dudu-Basantgarh areas of Udhampur district and in Bhaderwah, Doda district.

It is worth mentioning that on Friday, an Indian Army Lance Dafadar, Baldev Chand, was killed and two others were injured in an attack in Seoj Dhar.

Indian Army and Border Security Force personnel also claimed to have recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during an operation in Mawar Handwara and Nowgam areas of Kupwara district.

In addition, the BSF continued its search operation for the third day in and around Jajowal village, falling within the jurisdiction of Border Out Posts (BOPs) Chakroi and Jugnuchak in R S Pura area of Jammu district.

Cordon and search operations are frequently conducted under draconian laws that grant Indian forces sweeping powers and virtual impunity. These laws enable harassment, arbitrary detention, interrogation, and even extrajudicial killings without accountability. In occupied Kashmir, such operations have become a grim routine, making existence increasingly fearful and oppressive for residents.

Despite claims of peace and normalcy by the Modi regime, the continued militarization and crackdowns expose the reality on the ground — an atmosphere of constant insecurity and repression. These actions systematically strip Kashmiris of their basic rights and freedoms, deepening the humanitarian and political crisis in the occupied territory.
