Mirwaiz welcomes recognition of Palestinian state by four countries
Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has welcomed the recognition of a Palestinian state by Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Portugal, calling it a “positive development” amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said the decision came at a time when Palestinians have endured “unimaginable suffering,” yet the international community has largely remained unmoved.
He expressed hope that such steps would pave the way for a just and lasting solution. “This recognition should help bring relief and justice to the besieged Palestinians and revive efforts toward lasting peace in the region,” he added.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged more countries to “wake up to the injustice and genocide being committed upon Palestinians” and to acknowledge their rights over their land.
