NIA seizes properties of another Kashmiri amid Modi’s ongoing colonial policies in IIOJK

Srinagar: Continuing its colonial-style policies, the Modi regime has once again targeted Kashmiris by attaching the immovable properties of a resident in Shopian district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, India’s notorious investigative agency, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), seized properties belonging to Tariq Ahmad Mir. These include a residential building constructed on 780 sq. ft. of land and an orchard measuring 8 Marlas, both located in Maldera village of Shopian. Mir was arrested in April 2025 on fabricated charges.
To legitimize this action, the NIA stated that, acting on orders from the NIA Special Court in Jammu, it attached the immovable properties under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Arms Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Since the revocation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019, the Indian government has systematically confiscated hundreds of properties, including homes, lands, and businesses, owned by Kashmiris under various pretexts. This deliberate campaign is meant to economically cripple Kashmiris by dispossessing them of their assets, while facilitating the transfer of these properties to non-local Hindus, thereby engineering a demographic transformation of the occupied territory.
