IIOJK authorities seize Tehreek-e-Hurriyat office in Srinagar

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the New Delhi-imposed administration has seized the central office of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, located in the Hyderpora area of Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the confiscated property included a three-storey building constructed on one kanal and one marla of land in Rehmatabad. The seizure was carried out under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Indian police claimed that the building was being used as the main office of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, an organization already banned by the BJP-led Indian government on the pretext of promoting pro-freedom ideology and allegedly facilitating armed activities in IIOJK.

Authorities said that the action was taken in connection with a case registered at the Budgam police station, invoking multiple sections of the UAPA.

However, analysts view the move as part of a broader campaign of repression aimed at silencing voices of dissent and weakening the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement. The use of harsh laws like the UAPA, they argue, reflects New Delhi’s continued efforts to criminalize political expression in the occupied territory.
